Joy and Peace
Christmas beckons the world to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ at Bethlehem. The holy Bible says his birth was foretold centuries ago (Isaiah 11:1; Micah 5:2; Isaiah 7:14; Jeremiah 23:5-6) and some people lived in expectation of the birth of this child. At his birth and during his life time, many regarded this child/man as Emmanuel which means God with us (Matthew 1:23).
Many of those who lived in Galilee and Judea during Jesus’ time experienced pain and struggles arising from slavery, poverty, deprivations, illness, sadness, rejection, isolation and death. Those who believed that Jesus is Divine, encountered God in those familiar, ordinary and struggling situations. They experienced love, care and compassion. It also filled them with peace, joy and hope. Every Christmas is the anniversary of the beginning of this unique divine-human encounter. Our world still struggles with the presence and the impact of corona virus. The Christmas reminds that God-experience can bring joy and peace to the troubled world and restore hope and courage in humanity.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2022!!
